Currently the Desert Locusts are mainly located in the winter breeding areas of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden coast and Pakistan, and the winter-spring breeding areas of Ethiopia and Kenya in southern Horn of Africa.

    During April to May 2020, pest will occur heavier than disease in eleven main winter wheat production countries, including Russia, China, United States, Pakistan, France, Turkey, Iran, Germany, Canada, Uzbekistan and United Kingdom. The total areas affected by wheat rust (Puccinia striiformis) and aphid (Sitobion avenae & Rhopalosiphum padi) are estimated to reach 30 million hectares.

In May 2020, due to the higher temperature and precipitation with previous years, and the more basic number of main pests and diseases before winter, pests and diseases will severely occur in winter wheat regions of China. The total areas affected by wheat yellow rust (Puccinia striiformis), fusarium head blight (Fusarium graminearum), sheath blight (Rhizotonia cerealis) and aphid (Sitobion avenae & Rhopalosiphum padi) are estimated to reach 18.1 million hectares.

In 2019, due to the higher temperature and higher precipitation than previous years, pest and disease are moderately occurred in maize regions of China. The total area affected by maize armyworm (Mythimna separata), maize fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) and maize northern leaf blight (Setosphaeria turcica) has reached 6.2 million hectares, and armyworm and northern leaf blight decreased by 11.8% in 2019 compared with the previous year, affected area by fall armyworm reached 1.2 million ha in China firstly.

In 2019, due to the higher temperature and higher precipitation than previous years, pest and disease are moderately occurred in rice regions of China. The total area affected by rice planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens), rice leaf roller (Cnaphalocrocis medinalis) and rice sheath blight (Rhizoctonia solani Kühn) has reached15.3 million hectares, compared with the previous year decreased 35.2%.
